Green Chester Weekend is back!

A host of events and activities for everyone who wants to know more about sustainability and eco-living!

Join us for an uplifting morning of community, inspiration, and action as we come together to honour the Earth and commit to protecting it.

🎤 Speakers – Hear from passionate voices sharing stories of hope and climate action.

🚀 Official Launch at 11:00 am – Be there as we kick off Chester Green Weekend and celebrate the start of Great Big Green Week.

Chester Critical Mass – Active Travel in Action

📍 Meet at Fika, Grosvenor Park – 🕑 2:00 PM Start

Join the fun on two wheels! Critical Mass rides are informal, inclusive, and leaderless – there’s no set route, just a joyful group ride through the city to celebrate cycling and reclaim the streets.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 All Ages Welcome – Bring the family!

🎨 Get Creative – Decorate your bikes, wear colourful outfits, and ride with style.

🌿 Special Event for Chester Green Weekend

This month’s ride includes a ‘Best Dressed Bike & Rider’ competition – judged at 4:00 PM on Saturday 7th June. Prizes and extra cheer await! Come roll with us and show your love for a greener, bike-friendly Chester!

Nature and Biodiversity Hub

This tranquil space celebrates Chester’s natural beauty and local wildlife. Visitors can explore educational exhibits about ecosystems and endangered species, emphasizing the impact of the climate and nature emergency. Organisations include Chester Zoo, Cheshire Wildlife Trust and Record.

Interactive Climate Action Zone

This hands-on area encourages visitors to take tangible steps toward sustainability, such as pledging to reduce their carbon footprint or planting a tree.

Youth and Family Engagement

We will have a dedicated space for families offering interactive, hands-on activities, including crafting with recycled materials, educational nature walks, and learning about wildlife conservation. Children will have the opportunity to create artwork or write letters to future generations about the importance of protecting the environment.

Live Music and Eco-Art Installations

Enjoy a vibrant atmosphere with live acoustic performances and green-themed art installations made from recycled materials. The festival’s main stage will feature musicians with an environmental focus, creating an inspiring and eco-conscious setting.

Educational Talks and Workshops

We will have a range of expert-led discussions and interactive workshops in Deans Field, behind the historic Chester Cathedral. Topics will cover climate science, biodiversity conservation, sustainable fashion, urban gardening, and low-impact travel. Something’s gone fowl behind Chester Cathedral… and we need you to solve the mystery!

Take part in the Sustainable Sleuth, a fun, family-friendly trail full of clues, riddles, and hidden QR codes. As you investigate what happened to our unlucky goose, and discover simple ways we can all help protect local wildlife and the environment.
